Nate Wood - "Reliving"

by Luisa Codega

To those of you who have visions of Nate Wood’s past every time you hear his name, it’s time for a new and refreshing vision with the release of his new CD, “Reliving”.

As I had the CD sent to me by a die hard fan of Nate’s, I figured her ramblings of praise about the CD would be out of loyalty, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

The first song “Meantime”, I found myself screwing my nose up at, but by the time I reached the fifth song “Become”, I realised, I had found a new drug for my music collection.  Please don’t let “Meantime” scare you off!  Get to the second song “Too Much” and you’ll see this CD has huge possibilities.

“Never” has a touch of a Joe Satriani guitar riff and “Become” unites Joe Jackson with Elvis Costello.  After these songs, you get a bit of grunge and a bit of rock, toned down by pop.  Sound messy?  Not really.  It’s all been put together by someone who clearly knows what they are doing.

The compositions are good. The lyrics…interesting, the music...as you can see, a diverse variety, certain to please anybody’s musical tastes.

The entire CD was written and produced by Nate and he also plays all the instruments on the CD as well as sings all the lyrics. This multi-talented drummer could be on to something very good.

This CD is definitely well worth a listen, by any music fan.

I find myself listening to this CD over and over and never tiring of it.  I give it the big thumbs up.  Make sure to take note of the name because I think you will be hearing more of it in the future, in many different ways.

“I listened to songs on the CD Baby site and I think it's good. Yes it's pop, but not the bad kind. This guy has a great ear, it's very catchy. There’s almost a Steely Dan sound at times, but then the next song will have more of an acoustic guitar sound. I like the diversity.”

“The man clearly has a knack for catchy hooks. Good pop sensibility, good ear. He should do well I think.”
